After a young man flees the family farm and heads west in an old school bus, Nature offers him lessons on how to lead a life well-lived. Told through a series of short narrative and mime vignettes, “Herman” delivers a gut-punch commentary on our present times while unmasking a compassionate and hopeful vision for the future.

Grant Bashore

Grant Bashore began mime studies in the 1970's with Dr. E. Reid Gilbert at the Wisconsin Mime Theatre and Valley Studio in Spring Green, Wisconsin. At the Valley Studio Grant studied mime, acting, yoga, mask, dance, and voice. At age 10 he performed his first mime skits before a live audience at the Gard Theater in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Grant trained at the School for Mime Theatre at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio with the acclaimed American mimes C. Nicholas Johnson, Rick Wamer, Lorie Heald, and Stephen Chipps. He also studied at the International School of Corporeal Mime (London/Spring Green) with Steven Wasson and Corrine Soum, the last assistants to “the father of modern mime” Etienne Decroux. Grant completed a four-year Stanislavsky actor training and advanced teacher training in Active Analysis and Psychophysical Actions at the Bennett TheatreLab and Conservatory. (Philip G. Bennett trained and served as assistant artistic director, actor, and teacher at The American Stanislavsky Theatre in NYC under the artistic direction of Sonia Moore, former actress of the 3rd Studio of the Moscow Art Theatre). This rich lineage has endowed Grant with unique skills in both the stylized world of mime and the speaking Theatre of Living Experience. Grant has performed with Tucson Theatrical Mime Theatre, Artifact Dance Project, Rick Wamer’s “Mythos” (University of Arizona Dance Dept.), and the Arizona Improv Comedy Troupes “Jester’Z” and “Not Burned Out Just Unscrewed”. Stage credits include Cheswick in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (2000 Zoni Award, Theater Works); Lord Capulet in Romeo and Juliet (Tucson Community Theater); Judas in Frida Kahlo (Teatro Bravo); the Duke in Measure for Measure (Tucson Theatre Ensemble) and Arthur in The Balcony (The Rogue Theatre). He also appears in solo mime shows throughout the country and abroad. Grant is a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild and AEA. He resides in Maui, Hawaii.

Rick Wamer

Rick’s global mime career began in 1982 at The Goldston School for Mimes in Gambier, Ohio. He continued his pursuit participating in Marcel Marceau’s US seminars from 1985-1987, initiating an eighteen-year mentor-ship under Marceau, and assisting Marceau in later seminars. A founding member of Invisible People Mime Theater, he also served as Artistic Director of the Saskatchewan Seminars for Mime and Movement Theater in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Rick’s one-man show Geometries, mingling mime and monologue, has been delighting audiences for the past two decades. Wamer has collaborated with A Theater of Mime, generating the role of Scrooge in a Mimodrame adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol in L.A; and, with Alithea Mime Theatre touring in Poland, China and Puerto Rico.

Recent productions include Caligari!, an ensemble work inspired by the silent film classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari; Mythos, a multi-media production in Tucson at the University of Arizona’s Stevie Eller Theatre; Stories of Painted Sky, a mime-aerial ballet co-written and directed with Nathan Dryden; movement direction for Our Town for Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA; and, a tribute performance to the French Mime tradition of the 20th Century, called The Factory, re-staging seminal Etienne Decroux creations.

Rick and Lorie Heald created Theatrical Mime Theatre, in the early 2000s, and established an ongoing season of Mime Theatre in Tucson that lasted for close to a decade. Wamer received the honor of being recognized as the recipient of the prestigious Contributor to the Arts Community Arts Award from Buffalo Exchange for 2015.

Current projects include writing his first book entitled, The Physical Imagination; developing a physical theater festival in Tucson, AZ, USA; a reconstruction project of a late 19th Century French Mimodrame with Dario Salvi, the artistic and musical director for the Imperial Viennese Orchestra; and creating a multi-arts production based on the folklore and culture of the Northeastern Maritimes.  A frequent consultant in arts education, Rick lives in Tucson, AZ, USA.

Lawrence Ware

Lawrence served as the lighting designer in Arizona Repertory Theatre’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire (Tucson, AZ.), and he was the assistant lighting designer for Greater Boston Stage Company's Million Dollar Quartet. He was on the technical team of American Repertory Theatre's World Premier production of We Live in Cairo. Lawrence would like to thank his friends and family for supporting him as well as audience members for their support of local theatre.

Tiffer Hill

Christopher “Tiffer” Hill is excited to be entering his third season with Scoundrel & Scamp. After a brief stint as a vocal performance major at the University of Arizona, he began working as a stagehand at the Gaslight Theatre starting in 2012. He continued working there full-time for the next five and a half years at the pace of at least eight shows a week, eventually stage managing 21 productions including personal favorites such as Arizona Smith and the Relic of Doom, Spider-Guy, and Ghostblasters! Favorites from S&S’s first season include An Unproduced Screenplay About The Death Of Walt Disney, Mr Burns: a post-electric play, and Oaf. Tiffer also served as the lighting designer for the 2018 & 2019 Tucson Fringe Festival and the 2018 & 2019 Bennett TheatreLab Festival of Plays.
