Who can rent space at Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre?

The S&S is happy to host all kinds of events in need of a venue! We operate on a first-come, first-served basis. We have hosted theatrical productions; dance, music, and voice recitals; improv shows; educational presentations; professional mixers and networking events; and more!

Where is the Scoundrel & Scamp?

The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre is located at 738 North 5th Avenue, Suite 131, Tucson, Arizona 85705. (See a map.) The S&S is around the back of The Historic Y, with our entrance off of the between 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue.

What space(s) can I rent?

The S&S MainStage, a 105-seat proscenium theatre, is available to rent. S&S programming has priority in all spaces.

How many people does the MainStage space hold?

Our MainStage has 105 seats. Depending on the nature of your event and your staging plans, we can potentially add additional seating on the stage to accommodate a larger audience.

How much does a rental cost?

Rental costs vary based on the type of event, the length of the rental (both in regard to how much time per day and how many days), and whether the renting organization is a nonprofit. Please reach out directly and we’ll be happy to provide you with an estimate!

When should I book my rental?

Our calendar fills up quickly! We recommend reaching out as soon as you know the prospective dates for your event. We will book rentals through the entire season beginning the summer prior to the season. Rentals are always accepted on a rolling basis.

Is anything beyond the physical space included in my rental?

Yes! We’ll provide you with a Facilities Host from the S&S staff to ensure that you have access to the spaces you need, the theater is set up in accordance with your needs, and to answer general questions about the theater. We also will give you access to our lighting and sound board, as well as movable tech such as stand microphones, if needed.

What am I responsible for, as the renter?

The renter is responsible for hiring a person or team to run tech for their event. S&S staff members may be independently contracted for this work, but technicians are not included in the rental. Additionally, it’s expected that renters will bring their own scenery, props, and costumes, as needed.

Where can participants and attendees of my event park?

We have a small parking lot to the south of our building, and some street parking is additionally available. On nights and weekends, the metered spaces along 4th Avenue do not charge.

May I come see the space before committing?

Absolutely! Please contact us to set up a tour.

Do we have to do a tech tour ahead of our rental?

While we do not require a tech tour, the S&S strongly recommends that your tech person or team visit the theater in advance of your event to ensure their familiarity with our booth tech and layout. Your tech person is responsible for meeting your event’s needs, so it’s best to ensure that they understand what they’ll need to bring on the day of your event as well as to ensure their ability to use the equipment and tech we have in-house.

We have different technical needs than we initially thought. What should we do?

Contact your Facilities Host as soon as possible to discuss your needs. The host will be able to let you know what we are or are not able to provide. Please also have your tech person or team familiarize themselves with your updated needs!

We need to change our schedule. Can we do that?

Yes, though S&S programming continues to take priority in the calendar. Please reach out to your established Facilities Host to discuss a new schedule. If you are adding more time to your rental, please be aware that the additional hours will be added to your invoice.

Will I have access to dressing rooms and mirrors?

Yes! Your MainStage rental includes access to our dressing rooms and the Studio space.

Will you advertise our event?

S&S staff will neither create advertising copy nor share it on our listserv, but we’re happy to re-share Instagram stories or posts on our own Instagram and Facebook stories!
