Clown
“In Letter’s End, a shabby clownish man burns lost packages and dead letters in a furnace until a torn parcel lets fall an old brown teddy bear, and a memory is kindled. As he opens other items, a whole life unfold….Bowart, like a one-man circus, is unfailingly charming, clever and adroit..”
- The Mercury, Australia
When we think of the word 'clown' we might conjure up thoughts of red noses and tiny cars, but since ancient times, clown characters have played powerful roles in cultures around the world. From the sacred clowns of the Hopi culture to the wise fools of Shakespeare and on to the antics of Chaplin and Keaton, clown characters are often a mirror that allow us to see ourselves.
